Welcome!

Established in September of 2001, we are a growing Christian family in the area south of Lake Travis. Come, be a part of the Lord's work!

Kate

Kate was an attractive young mother whose husband had survived WWII and settled his family in Los Angeles. She dabbled in religion but felt that it was too confining. She wanted to have a big house on the coast and a summer home on Lake Tahoe. When her Christian friends recommended that she try to find satisfaction in the nice home and good family she had, Kate sneered and retorted, "You Christians don't want anyone to have any fun!"

The drive for success, either financial or social, is fraught with all manner of misconceptions. E. A. Robinson touched on this in his poem Richard Cory:

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him;
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored and imperially slim.
And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked,
But still, he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good morning" -- and he glittered when he walked.
And he was rich -- yes, richer than a king,
And admirably schooled in every grace;
In fact, we felt that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.
So, on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat and cursed the bread,
And Richard Cory, one clam summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

No one wanted Kate to abandon her dreams but only to enjoy both the now and the process of becoming by keeping God in the equation. Robinson put his finger on the problem but Solomon understood the solution. Ecclesiastes 2:24-26 "A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing . . .."
