Meet Our Leadership

Robert 'Bobby' Garza

Deacon

Bobby Garza moved to Austin, from Laredo, in 1978.  Bobby is married to his beautiful bride, Donna Slade-Garza.  Their son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren live in the Houston area.

Bobby had started his career in the television industry while in Laredo and continued that with KTBC-TV in Austin.  Bobby became the director of the local evening news and continued that for over 15 years.  Currently, he is the Warranty Manager for a local boat dealership.  Donna is a licensed mortgage loan officer.

Bobby and Donna have two (large) Newfoundland dogs that keep them busy and entertained.  Bobby’s hobbies include playing the guitar and listening to music.  He enjoys Texas Longhorn sports – especially football.  And when time permits, works on various projects around the house.

Steve Krippner

Deacon

Steve Krippner and his wife, Sonya, have lived in the Austin area for over 20 years.  They have two sons, Max age 17, and Stefan age 14.  Steve served our country as a soldier and calvaryman for 12 years.  He is now employed by the City of Austin and lives in Lakeway.

Steve has been a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.  He frequently serves as our song leader and was recently asked to serve as Deacon of Facilities.  His favorite bible verse is Luke 22:36 and his favorite bible heroes include Samson, Joshua, Gideon, Paul, Cornelius and, of course, Jesus.

Steve’s favorite sports are rugby and wrestling.  In his free time, Steve enjoys relaxing in the country with his sons.

Will Ed Winters

Elder

Will Ed Winters and his wife, Cynthia, grew up in West Texas, and are both graduates of the University of Texas at Austin. Will Ed, a civil engineer, has worked for state water agencies since 1974, and in 2006 retired from the Texas Water Development Board.

Cynthia is a retired school teacher.  She volunteers for many tasks at our church and does volunteer work for the Austin Disaster Relief Network. Will Ed and Cynthia have four children and eight grandchildren.

The Winters were previously members of the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ. Will Ed served there as deacon of youth, and both Cynthia and Will Ed periodically taught Sunday school classes. Will Ed loves the outdoors and is a rock collector.

Bill Johnson

Elder

Bill Johnson grew up in the city of Hawthorne, California, near Los Angeles. Bill is married to Julie and they have four daughters.

Bill is the owner of Johnson’s Cabinets & Woodworking. Julie Johnson has a bookkeeping business in the Austin area.

Prior to joining the start up of the Lake Travis Church of Christ, Bill and Julie were members at the Oak Hill Church of Christ where Bill served as a deacon for the young professionals and young married.

Bill’s hobbies include woodworking and working on old cars.

George Barlow

Elder

George A. Barlow, Jr. grew up in a Christian home.  He submitted his life to the Lord at a very young age.  His home congregation groomed him to teach, preach, lead songs, and be a man who actively works in the Kingdom.

He continued his love of the ministry by attending Michigan Christian College.  He was tutored by some very wise Christian Professors.  It was while attending college God led him to his Christian companion to aid in the ministry.  George has been married to Tonya for 31 years and has two grown sons, Brock and Caleb.

George served at the Lake Travis Church of Christ as the Minister for nearly 4 years and now serves as one of the appointed Elders.  He has also worked with churches in Michigan, Indiana, Utah, and California.

His ministries have been in the areas of Deacon of Young Professionals, Leader of the Christian Young Men and Boys Group, Jail Ministry, Song Leader, and Blog writer, to name a few.  He has a passion for leading people to Christ and Loves to share the Good News!

George holds a bachelor’s degree from Rochester College and a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix.  His hobbies include, traveling and working out.

George served on the board of World Bible school and is now their Chief Advancement Officer.  He also advises Valenta Franchise, LLC on their Global Franchise Development.  George’s wife, Tonya, is a real estate professional with Realty Texas in Austin, Texas.
