Lend a hand...

1 Peter 4: 8-11

Living for God

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Serve the Church

There are many ways members can serve to help make the Sunday worship service possible.  Volunteers are needed in all areas.  Some tasks can be performed throughout the week, others are done during the actual service.  Every task may not be suitable for every member.  But all the tasks are important;  no job is too small;   and the big jobs are easier when more people pitch in to help.  Everything that gets done to make our worship service possible is being done by volunteers.  Please look around and consider what you can do to help.

Serve the Congregation

You may have a desire, or feel a need, to serve or support the members of the congregation.  This may be in the form of celebrating life events such as weddings,  anniversaries, birthdays, or baptisms.  Or perhaps offering comfort during times of sickness or injury, or loss of a family member.  There are many appropriate and helpful things to be done, such as sending notes or cards, preparing meals, attending funerals, hosting receptions, making hospital visits, or simply sharing a prayer.

Serve the Community

The church also has a responsibility and an obligation to serve the community and the world.  Each member has the opportunity to be a positive influence on our community simply by being a living example of a follower of Christ.  Beyond that, members can participate by taking part in the  worship services at Brookdale Assisted Living Center, or projects benefiting the Central Texas Children’s Home.  Local schools need reading mentors to assist students to become better readers.  We support teachers with some of the supplies they need for their classes.  As a church, we support the “Feed the Need” program at Thanksgiving, and the Christmas Assistance Program at the Lake Travis Elementary School.  On a broader scale we support the Austin Disaster Relief Network and a variety of world-wide missionary efforts.

What to do??

If you would like to volunteer to serve, but you’re not sure what you could do, or where you’re most needed, take a few minutes and complete the Member’s Participation form.  This will help guide you among the various tasks that are available.  You will be contacted after your form has been reviewed to discuss how you can best be of service.  Thank You!
