Good News or Bad News First?

Romans 10:15 New International Version (NIV)

15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Have you ever had someone sit you down and ask the question, “Would you like the good news or the bad news first?” I know there has definitely been times where this was said in jest and then there have been times where this was said in all seriousness. Either way we all approach this topic in different lights. I am the type of guy who would rather have the bad news first and then finish on a positive note. You may be different.

For as long as I have followed media, granted this isn’t very much, there has seemed to be a common theme of negative news. Many times as we sit down and watch the evening news, read the newspaper, scroll through news websites, or read headlines which pop up as we surf the internet, it seems to always be something which has a negative connotation. You have to really search hard to find positive news or a happy outlook on the things which are going on around us. I am not in the blaming business as I am sure there is some strategic thought behind why most of the news is sensationalized and negative in nature. If it were profitable to do nothing but success stories and good news, outlets would definitely do this.

We are called to bring the “good news” to all who are around us. Look at your life and see what kind of image are you portraying to those who you come in contact with on a daily basis. This should be a constant inward focus on our lives. We need to step back and see are we bringing strong positive thoughts and actions to those around us or are we pulling people down with negative and destructive behaviors or words. You can change only yourself and your actions. If we make it a point to bring positive thoughts and actions to our small portion of the world, we can lead by example and share the GOOD NEWS to those who are around us!
