Seek God First

SeekGod

I remember when I was 15 going on 16.  I wanted so badly to get my driver’s license.  I knew everything I had to do in order to get it.  I had to study and practice.  I knew it wasn’t going to happen by accident but I had faith that it could be done.  I needed to put in the time and the effort daily to accomplish my ultimate goal.

When I finally received my license I was very proud of myself.  I had my own driver’s license with my picture on it.  I was more than happy to give anyone a ride that asked.

This makes me think that if we want to have a relationship with God we have to work at it.  It doesn’t happen by accident.  It requires that we intentionally and carefully put in the effort.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).

We must not only believe, but we must seek him diligently and earnestly.  We must study his Word and put it into daily practice.  We must grow in His grace and knowledge.  We must grow in obedience, love, patience, kindness, and gentleness.

It’s what God desires.  He desires fellowship with us.  He not only wants to be our Savior and Lord, but he wants to be our friend.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33).

Whether you’re 15 going on 16 and about to get your driver’s license or maybe you’re about to be married or have your first child or grandchild etc… Having a deeper desire for God each and every day of our lives is what this life is really all about.
