“What shall we do?” What must I do to be saved?” What shall I do, Lord?”

Believe Repent & Be Baptized

In Acts 2:37 those seeking salvation asked, “What shall we do?”  Peter responded in verse 38 by saying, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.”  When you believe, repent and are baptized in the name of Christ our Lord, then the scripture teaches us, “That you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

In Acts 16 the jailer asked, “What must I do to be saved?”  Before the violent earthquake the prison guards were sleeping on the job and when the earthquake shook the foundation of the prison walls, the doors flew open and the prisoner’s chains came loose.  The jailer was afraid of what would happen to him if the prisoners had escaped, so he decided to draw his sword to take his own life.  Paul said, “Don’t harm yourself!  We are all here!”  After the jailer had the lights illuminated, he fell trembling before Paul and Silas and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”  Paul and Silas said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved….”  After which, the jailer and his household were immediately baptized.

In Acts 22 Paul tells of his experience on the road to Damascus and his goal was to punish the followers of Jesus.  He tells of his encounter with a bright light from heaven and the voice of Jesus of Nazareth.  After hearing His voice, he asked, “What shall I do, Lord?”  The Lord responded, “Get up and go into Damascus and be baptized for your sins and they will be washed away.”

Mark tells us, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved….” (Mark 16:16).

If you’ve been feeling that you’ve been missing something and you want more.  If you’re asking the question, what else is there or what else must I do?  God is calling you to believe, repent and be baptized!  Then keep studying the Bible to grow spiritually.
