Are You Ready for Eternity?

are-u-ready

Sunday morning the question was asked, “Are you ready for eternity?”  There was a resounding “Yes!”  The question pertains to two different locations, either heaven or hell.  When time is no more and the trumpet of the Lord sounds, we will be judged for what we did or did not do.

If you were to die today, would you know with certainty that you would be with God eternally?

How can we know for sure?  How can we know without a doubt?  How can we know that God will welcome us into his everlasting kingdom?  Is it because of the work we do?  Is it because we’ve been so good?  Is it because we help the poor or we were nice to everyone?

John says “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (John 5:13).

If we believe with all our heart in the name of Jesus Christ and give our lives over to him in our speech and the things we do he will reward us with eternal life.

However, some understand that salvation is earned and others believe you don’t have to do anything.  You can’t do enough to earn it.  You cannot buy it, you cannot bribe your way into it, and certainly don’t deserve it, but the good news is that salvation is a gift that is given.  The only thing you need to do is to accept it.

If you have yet to believe and accept God’s Son, you still have time to give your life over to him completely.

Are you ready?
