Be Still and Know

be-still-and-know-that-i-am-god

God has given me the joy and privilege of working and providing for my family.  This privilege and honor comes from only Him.  I enjoy it and welcome it!

But more than anything else, I love working for the Lord.  Interacting with people from all walks of life is an intriguing proposition and it’s what God calls us to do.   He wants us to tell others about His wonderful love.

Tonya and I saw the movie “War Room” the other day from the creators of “Fireproof” and “Courageous.”  And even though the movie was mostly about a Christian family under worldly pressures and how the power of an intentional prayer life can turn things around, there was another segment of the movie that stood out to me.

The family was so busy they didn’t pay attention to the things that really matter, for example:  being kind, loving one another, having patience, or consideration for one another.  They left God entirely out of the picture.  They were too busy to look up and realize that God was calling them to slow down and build a relationship with Him.  God wants us to build a relationship not only with Him, but with each other.

Psalm 46 and verse 10 tells us “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

We sing a song periodically entitled, “Be Still and Know.”  God calls us to be still and know that He is God and that He’s the one that strengthens us.  When I’m on the road, it gives me a great deal of time to communicate to God.  It gives me more time to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to direct my footsteps and to use me to lead others to Christ.

You may have a place and a time in your life where you can be still and speak with God.  I would encourage you, as you grow in your Christian walk to find that place of solace.
