God corrects the Shanks

Golf-God

A couple of weeks ago I went out and played golf with a few friends at River Place just off 2222 and 620 highway here in Austin Texas.  We played a foursome of best ball.  I had a horrible first 17 holes with shanks all over the place, but when I made it to the 18th I ended the round with a “true” birdie.

In our Story this past week Randy Frazee talks about golfers who have problems with shanks.  A shank is a poorly played golf shot.  There are many different facets to a golf swing, but one correction to help prevent shanks is to keep your clubface square at impact.  Golf instructors will tell you if you make that correction in your swing you will begin hitting the ball much straighter.

So the question is; why does something as simple as keeping your clubface square help to correct your swing?  The game of golf is very difficult, but making the right adjustments will help you improve your game.

God knows all the problems in our life.  He knows the “shanks” we face each and every day.  He knows when things are not going well and he knows when they need fixing.

He knew we needed him in order to correct the sin in our lives.   “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  (Romans 5:8).

God wants to fill our life with beautiful swings.  He wants to give us a new life.  This is why He sent His Son to eliminate all the “shanks” in our lives.  “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).
