Take Time

Take-Your-Time

Peter an apostle of Jesus Christ wrote in his epistle from Rome to the churches located in Pontus, Galatia, Cappodocia, Asia, and Bithynia, “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy” (1 Peter 1:15-16).

In our lesson Sunday morning, it was highlighted for us to take time to be holy.  Take time to speak with the Lord and to abide in Him always.  David said, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night” (Psalms 1:1-2).

How can we be holy?  How can we meditate upon the word of God day and night when there’s so many distractions invading our space?  Television is on 24 hours a day 365 days a year.  Everything from soap operas and reality TV to sports and other forms of entertainment have many Americans addicted.

All these worldly and temporal things will soon vanish away.  However, the things of God, the spiritual things will last forever.  Satan and his workers have deployed all types of distractions that are taking up our time and are screaming for our attention.  As these things are happening, it becomes difficult for us to focus our minds on God, the one who created everything.

My encouragement to you is to take time and put the things of this world on pause and focus more on Him.  Let’s put more effort into the things that really matter in this life and beyond.  Let’s take the time to be more purposeful in our pursuit to be more like Jesus.

Isn’t it wonderful when we can take time to reflect how much God has done for us?  Let’s now take time with Him.
