The God Test

The God Test

Yesterday we began a new series of Bible class lessons on “The God Test.”  The test says that it helps begin dialogue on critical issues as it relates to faith, skepticism and the meaning of life.

As a young teenager and well into my young adulthood I loved to sit down with anyone who was willing to discuss scripture.  In full disclosure, I enjoyed arguing scripture text and trying to get my point across.  It was less than effective.

We know that Jesus commands us to go out into our homes, our communities, our workplaces, and the world and teach the Gospel.  “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”   (Matthew 28:19-20)

The way we go about doing this will either help to attract or repel people.  This is why I believe it’s important to know how to start a conversation with someone about God.  One of the techniques is called S.A.L.T.

SALT stands for:

  • S tart a conversation
  • A ask questions
  • L isten
  • T ell the Story

As Christians our purpose is to teach His Word and bring others into a relationship with Him.  How we go about accomplishing this is different for each one, but it starts off by having a healthy conversation.

Happy Thanksgiving!
