I don’t know how many of you are paying any attention to the 2016 presidential race to the Whitehouse. A Washington Post opinion writer made a comment on the CNN network about a presidential hopeful. She said, “I found something rather astonishing. She heard one of them say, “It’s time for the body of Christ to rise up and support me.” She went on to say, “I don’t know anyone who takes their religion seriously who would think that Jesus should rise from the grave and resurrect himself to serve this candidate.”
Obviously she doesn’t understand what the “Body of Christ” is. The Bible says, “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others” (Romans 12:4-5).
The Church is the one body Paul is referring to, which is the body of Christ. Those of us who’ve decided to follow Jesus are part of the same entity. We are parts of the body that are joined together and have salvation in Him.
What’s even more astonishing was what was not said during that CNN interview. The host, including all of the other contributors didn’t correct what had been incorrectly stated. It’s apparent that they were not knowledgeable in the Word of God.
I agree, regardless of the election, it’s time for the body of Christ to rise up! It’s time for the body of Christ to rise up and stand on the promises of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It’s time for the body of Christ to rise up and stand up for His truths. It’s time for the body of Christ to rise up, not on the behalf of a presidential candidate, but rise up and share the Good News that Jesus Saves!
As members of the body of Christ we have salvation in Him because we follow His lead. Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. Rise up! Rise up! Rise up!
