Compassion

“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.  Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked” (Psalm 82:3-4).

One of our Elders led a good lesson at the Brook Dale’s assisted living yesterday on compassion.  In short he said that God sent his one and only Son to this earth because he had compassion on us.  So from Christ’ example, we ought to love our neighbor and have compassion for all mankind.

At the end of our service we sang “Rescue the perishing.”  God calls all members of his body to care for those that don’t know him, be kind and merciful to those that haven’t yet found him, because he is the one that will save.

This is why we need to be compassionate.  We don’t know a person’s past and we certainly cannot determine their future, however, God calls us to plant his seed, water it and he will be the one to give the increase.
